The "Energy and Biomass in Moldova", implemented in 2011, with the support of European Union, will be launched this year in 12 districts in November.
Thus, the project was already launched in Straseni, Taraclia Causeni Calarasi Nisporeni and Ialoveni. The project team will work in each district, which will present, during the public meetings, the conditions their villages have to meet in order to warm their public institutions with renewable energy.
Subsequently, interested communities will be able to send to the address of "Energy and Biomass Project" letters of intent until January 30.
In the first two years, the project was implemented in 20 districts of the country and Administrative Territorial Unit Gagauzia. Thus, over 100 cities have already been selected to connect public institutions existing alternative heating systems.
In total, 121 schools, kindergartens, social services and municipalities have installed modern biomass plants. However, new thermal heating systems led to the creation of over 200 jobs and launch new businesses pellets and briquettes production.
The total investment "and Biomass Energy Project" in these localities was 8,143,000 dollars, and 2,434,000 dollars came from the community.
The "Energy and Biomass in Moldova" is implemented during the years 2011-2014. The total budget is 14 million euros. Money is granted by the European Union and UNDP Moldova.
