January 16, 2013 / Chisinau - In an effort to transform the energy sector in a sustainable industry, competitive and suitable for integration into the European market, which would boost economic growth. The ministry developed the "Energy Strategy of the Republic of Moldova 2030 "and" National Action Plan for Energy Efficiency for 2013-2015 "documents were reviewed and approved at today's meeting of the Executive.
During the meeting Deputy Prime Minister Valeriu Lazar Government, Minister of Economy, presented the "Energy Strategy of the Republic of Moldova until 2030", adding that this strategy is equally a vision document of Moldova to the energy field 2030, but also a practical guide for all stakeholders: institutions, investors, consumers, who, being implemented, will give another large changes in the sector, vital to the national economy. As the foundation of its strategy, Moldova established a clear choice for integration into the European Union and its domestic energy recovery, and also bearing in mind its potential for collaboration with traditional partners in the East.
Lazar stressed that the strategy aims at strengthening bidirectional transport connections to the reinforcement of a transit country for electricity and natural gas, as well as strengthening and full commercial exploitation of internal capacity to generate electricity. The minister said that the authorities aim to attract solid investment, the major objective is the modernization of electricity generation capacity and thermal cover domestic needs and export it to countries in the Balkans.
The "Energy Strategy of the Republic of Moldova until 2030" and "National Action Plan for Energy Efficiency for 2013-2015" propose solutions to problems in energy efficiency, sustainability sector, potting renewable energy sources overall energy system and access to modern energy systems for the population. As a result of implementing this strategy, Moldova will benefit from a modernized and competitive energy market, ready for integration into the European market.
The strategy is based on three objectives: security of energy supply, creating competitive markets and regional and European integration and environmental sustainability and combating climate change.
Among the specific strategic objectives, to be achieved by 2030, are to ensure gas supply security through diversification of supply routes and sources, types of carrier (conventional gas, unconventional LNG) and storage facilities, while enhancing Moldova's role natural gas transit corridor, enhancing the role of the Moldovan energy transit corridor through the construction of new interconnection lines, connection to ENTSO-E and strengthening internal network of electricity transmission, creating a strong platform to generate electricity and heat through new technologies, effective marketing and efficient heating, improved energy efficiency and increased use of renewable energy sources, ensuring the legal, institutional and operational framework for effective competition, the effective opening of the market pricing of energy in a transparent and fair energy market integration of Moldova into the EU internal market, ensuring modern and competitive institutional framework for the development of the energy industry.
National Action Plan for Energy Efficiency for 2013-2015 (NAPs) was developed by the Energy Efficiency Agency in collaboration with the central government and local authorities and aims at developing the legal framework and tools necessary to foster energy efficiency in all sectors of the national economy and reducing emissions of greenhouse gases.
Strategy and National Action Plan for Energy Efficiency for 2013-2015 will contribute to the sustainable development of national economy, efficient energy sector and creating a transparent and competitive energy markets. Strategy refers to the objectives, measures and activities aimed at achieving a more efficient energy complex, competitive and secure, ensuring also the country's energy security, existing energy infrastructure, improve energy efficiency, renewable energy use and integration European energy market.
